Japanese carmaker Honda Motor has developed a new line of direct injection gasoline turbo engines, VTEC TURBO, for small-to-medium-sized vehicles.
VTEC TURBO is a new addition to the company's next-generation powertrain, Earth Dreams Technology.
It uses variable valve motion technology which includes Honda's VTEC along with direct injection turbocharging with highly-fluidized combustion and a thorough reduction in engine friction.
The VTEC TURBO features displacement size variation of 2.0l, 1.5l and 1.0l. The 2.0l four cylinder direct injection gasoline turbo engine will offer maximum output of more than 280HP and complies with the EURO 6, European emission standards.
The 1.5l four cylinder direct injection gasoline turbo engine and 1.0l three cylinder direct injection gasoline turbo engine are next-generation compact engines.
They combine a base engine with a newly designed framework, the VTEC variable valve train system with thoroughly reduced friction and direct injection technology.
