Federal Is Recalling Certain Model 10-Ply Couragia A/T Tires

Federal Corp. is recalling certain model 10-ply Couragia A/T tires, size LT245/75R16 120/116Q. The tires have sidewall stampings of DOT UXA3 and were manufactured the 19th week of May 2013 through the 14th week of April 2014.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaign ID number is 14T004. The potential number of affected units is 6,209.

According to NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation, the affected tires may experience cracks in the shoulder caused by separation of the steel belt edge. As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 139, "New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles."

"Shoulder cracks in a tire may result in an unexpected loss of tire pressure, increasing the risk of a crash," says NHTSA.
