Mitsubishi Motors Is Planning to Recall 3,839 Vehicles

Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors (MMC) is planning to recall 3,839 units of hybrid vehicles in Japan over the defect in the vehicles motor controls computer program and oil leaks.

The recall affects Outlander plug-in hybrid vehicles manufactured between 17 January 2013 and 13 March 2013.

Defective computer program of the vehicles may make it difficult for the SUV to start smoothly, while the oil leakage may prevent the vehicles from moving.

According to the Mitsubishi spokeswoman Namie Koketsu, the company is also recalling 18 units of the plug-in Outlanders in Japan over the uninspected parts in the vehicles.

Out of the 18 units, fourteen may have a defect with their generators, while the remaining four may have an malfunction with the front motor, claims the company.

No injuries or accidents related to the recall have been reported, the company said.
