Healthcare technology company Ambio Health is showcasing its wireless health monitor at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Digital Health Summit, which is being held from 9-10 January 2013.
Monitoring weight, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels, the Ambio remote health monitoring system features 5000ft2 transmission range, automatic readings as well as plug and play set up with no configuration required.
Ambio Health chief executive officer Kevin Jones said chronic diseases are among the most common, costly and preventable of all health problems in the country, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"In addition, numerous studies have shown that remote health monitoring reduces expensive hospitalizations and ER visits for chronic diseases such as heart disease, lung disease and diabetes," Jones added
"However, most remote health monitoring solutions can only be cost-justified for those most at risk of hospitalization.
"We will continue to enhance the product this year to address a wider range of needs for patients suffering from chronic diseases."
The Ambio system is expected to come up with additional features including PIR motion sensors and door/window sensors in the second quarter of 2013.
