LG has been accused of stealing OLED technology from Samsung.Eleven employees from both companies are facing charges for the theft.
"Samsung Mobile Display,which takes up about 97%share in the world's OLED market,is worried about losing tens of trillions of won due to the latest technology leak,"says Samsung.
Samsung uses OLED screens in its Galaxy smartphones which have propelled Samsung to overtake Apple in the smartphone market.Together the two companies account for half the world's sales of smartphones.
Because OLEDs don't need backlighting,they are thinner than LCDs and,without the need for LEDs around the perimeter of the display,OLEDs can deliver a screen which stretches right to the edge of the phone.
LG recently agreed to pay$380m to settle a US civil lawsuit for fixing the price of LCDs.
