Sketches of the Hyundai HND-9 concept have been released ahead of its world premiere at next week’s 2013 Seoul motor show.
Sporting a dramatic evolution of Hyundai’s fluidic sculpture design language, the HND-9 luxury two-door performance car concept is tipped to strongly influence the styling of the next-generation Hyundai Genesis Coupe that’s destined for Australia in 2015.
A wide grille with hints of Aston Martin in its design fronts a long, low bonnet. Front-hinged upward-opening butterfly doors sit between an expansive wheelbase, forming part of a classic sports car profile that flows naturally towards the muscular rear end and its piercing LED tail-lights.
Powering the Hyundai HND-9 concept is a 272kW 3.3-litre turbocharged direct-injection V6 petrol engine – eclipsing the 257kW output of the current Genesis Coupe’s 3.8-litre V6. The engine is teamed with an eight-speed automatic transmission that channels drive to the rear wheels.
Hyundai promises the HND-9 concept will also debut a host of new cutting-edge technologies when it is unveiled in Seoul on March 28.
