New Ford Focus to Go on Sale in Europe and China

Ford has unveiled the all-new, fourth-generation Focus compact car, which is due to be launched later this year in Europe and China.

The new Focus car features the latest advanced technology with more space and a better fun-to-drive experience, the company said.

It features 4-door sedan, 5-door estate/wagon and 5-door hatchback body styles, depending on the market..

The all new Focus is claimed to be one of the first vehicles to be using Ford’s revamped product development process, which leverages a human-centered design to deliver the models, features and technologies.

The company  unveiled its Focus Vignale, sporty ST-Line, adventure-oriented Active and upscale Titanium in Europe and ST-Line and Titanium in China. It will introduce Focus in North America closer to its on-sale date next year.

The new Focus is claimed to keep customers connected and safe on the road. It will  feature Ford’s Co-Pilot360, a suite of advanced driver assist technologies to help drivers drive more safely, and confidently.

Available technologies which will change by region include an Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) enhanced with Stop & Go, Speed Sign Recognition and Lane-Centering for negotiating stop-start traffic.

 The Adaptive Front Lighting Systemwith new camera-based predictive curve light and Sign-based light  will pre-adjust headlamp patterns for enhanced visibility.

A new version of Active Park Assist helps in acceleration, braking and gear selection, enables fully automated maneuvers at the push of a button.

Another technology, Evasive Steering Assist helps drivers in steering around stopped or slower vehicles to avoid collisions.

For the Chinese market, the new Focus offers a 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine, along with an all-new 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine optimized for high torque at low rpm.

For the European market, the Focus will include a 1.5 liter EcoBoost gasoline and a 2.0 liter EcoBlue diesel. The North American powertrain options will be announced closer to the launch, the company stated.

The all new Focus will offer standard drive mode technology that includes normal, sport and eco modes, for the first time. This allows drivers to adjust engine and transmission response, steering wheel and Adaptive Cruise Control to match the driving situation between sport and efficiency modes.
