Symrise has opened a €12m flavors and fragrances center in São Paulo, Brazil, as a part of its effort to strengthen the development of products tailored for the Latin American market.
The Center of Excellence will combine research and development work, which has until now been conducted at two different locations, the company said.
Located in the Brazilian district of Granja Viana, the center spans 8,000m2 and has been built in line with sustainability and environmentally friendly principles. It features water purification and energy saving systems. In addition, processes for structured waste and recycling management have been implemented.
Symrise CEO Heinz-Jürgen Bertram said that over the last few years, the company has experienced rapid growth, and Latin America will remain an important growth region.
"Our new location is our largest in Latin America, and we have clearly located it at the center of Brazil's economy," Bertram added.
Symrise noted that using the state-of-the-art equipment, the teams will research the specific needs and preferences of Latin American consumers. They will work interactively with consumers to develop innovative brand concepts. The new center will be the starting point for tapping into the emerging markets of Latin America.
Symrise, based in Holzminden, Germany, offers flavors, fragrances, aroma chemicals, and cosmetic ingredients.
