Audi Unveils E-Tron Quattro Concept at IAA 2015

Luxury automobile manufacturer Audi has introduced e-tron quattro concept with its SUV at International Motor Show (IAA) 2015 in Frankfurt, Germany, riding high on its ‘Aerosthetics’ concept that seeks to couple technical measures for reducing aerodynamic drag with creative design.

The SUV draws from movable aerodynamic elements at the front, on the sides and at the rear with a view to enhance the air flow around the car.

With an aerodynamically optimized underbody, it has a cd value of 0.25 and a range of over 500km.

Audi, which utilizes its experience with electric Audi R8 e-tron sports car, has put to use three electric motors, one on the front axle and the rest on the rear axle, to power the Audi e-tron quattro concept.

The SUV with all-electric drive will be in series production from 2018.

The SUV with its coupe-like cabin could accommodate four people. Its length lies between that of the Audi Q5 and the Q7.

A lithium-ion battery is placed between the axles and below the passenger compartment, effecting a low center of gravity and a balanced axle load distribution, all of which contribute to better driving dynamics and driving safety.
