US-based food firm Bumble Bee Foods is voluntarily recalling certain codes of 5-ounce Chunk White Albacore and Chunk Light Tuna products as they do not meet the company's standards for seal tightness.
The products subject to the recall include 48 Count Case of Brunswick Brand 5oz Chunk Light Tuna in Water, Bumble Bee Brand 5oz Chunk Light Tuna in Water, and Bumble Bee Brand 5oz Chunk Light Tuna in Vegetable Oil bearing UPC codes 6661332803, 8660000020 and 8660000021 respectively.
Six Count Case of Bumble Bee Brand 5oz Chunk Light Tuna in Water, Bumble Bee Brand 5oz Chunk White Albacore in Water and Bumble Bee Brand 5oz Chunk White Albacore in Water with UPC codes 8660000736, 8660000775 and 8660000776 respectively.
In addition, the products being recalled include 24 Count Case of Bumble Bee Brand 5oz Chunk White Albacore in Water bearing UPC code 8660000025.
These products were distributed between 17 January 2013 and 28 February 2013 for retail sale across the nation.
The recall has been initiated as loose seals may cause product contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens and lead to illness if consumed.
No illnesses have been reported associated with the recall. Consumers who have purchased the recalled products have been advised to dispose them.
