General Motors’ Chevrolet division will showcase its 2016 Chevrolet Malibu car at this year’s New York International Auto Show.
The car will be built upon a new architecture and will feature wheelbase nearly four inches longer than the outgoing model.
The increased wheelbase has also increased the interior space and rear legroom.
Chevrolet has also used higher-strength steel structure for the creation of the new Malibu, which has made the vehicle 300 pounds lighter, and also improved the car's fuel economy and handling.
General Motors' said, vice president Ed Welburn said: "Malibu's gorgeous styling is the result of a masterful understanding of proportions.
"The roofline has been stretched rearward giving a more sleek profile, while the front wheels have moved forward and front and rear overhangs have been reduced.
Along with the sculpted body side, these cues help Malibu appear more dynamic and sophisticated."
Chevrolet is planning to commence selling 2016 Malibu by the end of this year.
