Google Is Not Likely to Become a Mass Car Manufacturer

According Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, Google is not likely to become a mass car manufacturer despite having capability to impact the industry with its software and automated driving technology.

Tech companies and auto makers have started to rely on each other now a days due to the next generation technologies that are made by tech companies.

Reuters cited Zetsche as saying that Google's objective of introducing self-driving car was probably to understand how cars are used instead of becoming a manufacturer itself.

Zetsche said that the search giant was studying the home, the office and the car which are places where people spend time.

Zetsche added: "We have to understand that, and then to find our roles, to which extent they are complementary, to which extent we become dependent, and to which extent we are competitors."

Daimler is focusing more on security of personal data and is emphasizing upon controlling data from self-driving and other cars.

Daimler, which owns the Mercedes-Benz brand, will put emphasis on controlling data from self-driving and other cars.

"When we talk about high safety with Mercedes, it does not apply specifically for protection from accidents, but this means safety of their personal data as well. To be able to provide that, we have to keep control, and we can't do that when it is collected by Google, Zetsche told the agency.
