Audi Has Reported 6.4% Yoy Rise in The First Half of 2013 to About 780,500 Vehicles

German automobile manufacturer Audi has reported 6.4% year over year (yoy) rise in the first half of 2013 to about 780,500 vehicles, compared to the corresponding period of the prior year.

The manufacturer sold about 140,300 cars in the month of June recording a 5.5% yoy growth compared to same month of the last year.

Audi Sales Board of Management member Luca de Meo said the new A3 and the Q3 and Q5 SUV models in particular contributed to the company's global sales growth in the first half of the year.

"We have clearly exceeded the 2012 figure for deliveries, despite a much more difficult environment in many key markets at present," Meo added.

"In the second half of the year, the A3 Sedan will make an impact in the first markets. This model will play a decisive role in continuing the A3 success story."

In the domestic market, the company's sales dropped by 4.3% to 128,345 units in the first six months of the year, against the 134,173 units sold during the same period last year.

During the period, total Audi sales in the US went up by 14% to 74,277 units, driven by the 45.5% growth recorded by the company in the Mexican region to 5,619 units.

The company has recorder 2.5% drop in the first half year sales of 2013 in Europe with delivery of 383,700 cars, while the UK and Russian regions recorded about 11.9% and 9.8% increase respectively.

The Asia-Pacific region posted 18.2% increase in the sales to 270,800 units during the period compared to 229,034 vehicle sold during the similar period last year.
