Guida's Dairies Upgraded Its Fleet with a Total of 19 Vehicles

Guida's Dairies has upgraded its fleet with a total of 19 vehicles that are equipped with a new technology, which lowers NOx emissions to near zero levels.

The new technology, known as Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), also delivers improved fuel economy and reliability, the company said.

The 19 new vehicles include 8 wholesale trucks, 3 tractors and 8 trailers.

In addition, the company has transitioned its trailers to electric standby units, allowing the refrigerated engines to run on electricity when not being transported over the road, resulting in a savings of thousands of gallon of fuel over a year's time.

Guida's Dairies transportation director Dave Drezek said that with the new trucks, the company is reducing its carbon footprint by 12%.

"We're currently retrofitting our entire fleet with a brand new GPS logistic software system, which monitors speed, idle time, braking, location and refrigeration temperatures."

"The new technology allows us to manager our driver's behavior on the road resulting in a reduction of overall fuel consumption by 2.1%," Drezek added.

Guida's Dairy is a large regional dairy located in Southern New England, US. It delivers dairy and dairy related products throughout Southern New England. Its service area includes Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Northern New Jersey and New York State, including Long Island.
