US-based natural gas fuel storage and delivery systems provider Agility Fuel Systems has secured an order from United Parcel Service (UPS) to deliver 445 of its new 160 DGE Behind-the-Cab CNG fuel system.
These new heavy duty trucks are expected to run more than 230 million miles annually. The delivery of the vehicles is scheduled later this year.
Agility Fuel Systems CEO Barry Engle said: "As an early adopter, UPS has been a role model for trucking fleets introducing natural gas into their operations.
"Today's announcement is further validation of our technological leadership, innovative and space saving fuel system designs, reliability and industry-leading field support."
This new order will see UPS operating almost 1,600 heavy duty trucks equipped with CNG or LNG fuel systems supplied by Agility.
The company has also worked with UPS to develop and engineer custom specifications for their applications.
In addition, Agility supported UPS in installation, training and in-servicing for successful deployment and rapid expansion of natural gas in their heavy duty truck fleet, the company stated.
