Automobile major Mercedes-Benz Vans geared up to expand in the camper van sector with Marco Polo and Marco Polo Activity, showcasing its models alongside ‘Tecamp’ from Terra Camper and ‘MultiCamper’ from Neureuther at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Bodybuilders including Hymer, which is expanding its spectrum of vehicles, will also present design study of its first compact camper van based on the Mercedes-Benz V-Class at the Caravan Salon.
The vans are also armed with four-cylinder turbo diesel engine in three power ratings from 100kW (136hp) to 140kW (190hp), with a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Mercedes-Benz vans sales and marketing head Klaus Maier said: "We are proud of our Marco Polo models. They are proving exceptionally popular with our customers. The demand far exceeds our expectations.
"Equally gratifying is the great interest in the V-Class and Vito among bodybuilders and conversion specialists.
"This shows that with our strategic product initiative and our revamped vehicle range we are in an excellent position to further expand our standing in the attractive camper van market, too."
Both Marco Polo and Marco Polo Activity flaunt exterior dimensions with 5.14m and a width of 1.93m, while featuring electromechanical power steering to. They have a height of 1.98m.
