Bacardi, a Bermuda-based producer of wines and spirits, has announced progress on its efforts to limit impact on natural resources in its annual report on corporate responsibility (CR).
The company has lowered energy consumption by about 25%, while water usage has been reduced by 54%, compared to its first CR Report in 2006.
According to the Bacardi Limited CR Report 2013. Titled Our Spirit is Clear, about 80% of Bacardi's production facilities implement behavior-based safety programs, generating measurable safety improvements.
As part of Global Alcohol Producers Group commitments, the company has bolstered and expanded existing responsible drinking and responsible marketing efforts across the world.
Bacardi CR initiatives senior vice president, chief communications and corporate affairs officer Eric Kraus said, "We see these actions as not only an essential matter of corporate responsibility, but also an important area of collaboration with our consumers, key customers and suppliers, as well as with employees and opinion leaders."
Under a separate development, Bacardi aims to source 100% of its sugarcane-derived products from sustainable sources by 2022.
