Japanese automobile maker Mazda has launched the sedan and wagon variants of the new Atenza in Japan.
Both the variants are powered by SKYACTIV-D 2.2L diesel engine, in addition to two gasoline engines including SKYACTIV-G 2.0L and 2.5L engines, which are mated to six-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic transmission and 6-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual transmission.
Mazda claims that the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 clean diesel engine model will generate a maximum torque of about 420Nm, similar to the output generated by a 4.0L V8 gasoline engine.
Standard features of the new model that assist in enhancing fuel economy include an idling stop system, i-stop, and a new brake energy regeneration system.
Safety features of the new model include i-ACTIVSENSE, which is a series of safety technologies, which incorporates active safety technologies aimed at supporting safe driving from the beginning by assisting the driver in detecting and evaluating hazards.
