Prolific English racecar builder Radical has revealed its eagerly awaited Le Mans-inspired road car, the Radical RXC (Extreme Coupe), featuring a heavily tuned mid-mounted 283kW Ford V6 engine.
Radical currently holds the production car lap record at the famous Nurburgring circuit with its Radical SR8, but alongside the RXC road car is a race variant ready for International GT and sports car competition that is sure to push production car boundaries further again.
The all-new Radical RXC is the result of three and a half years of development and is a clean-sheet design that is arguably the world’s most extreme road-legal (at least in the UK) coupe.
With a kerb weight just over 900kg and its 3.7-litre V6 engine producing 283kW and 433Nm, the Radical RXC claims a 0-100km/h sprint time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 286km/h.
The V6 is Euro 5 compliant and boasts 10,000km service intervals and is intended to be both reliable and durable, but for those that want even more power, buyers can choose a 358kW version of Radical’s proven 3.0-litre V8 powerplant from the record-holding SR8.
Power is transferred to the road through an all-new bespoke Quaife seven-speed transverse gearbox featuring paddle shifters for 50-millisecond upshifts and automatic throttle blipping for clutchless downshifts.
The suspension is also bespoke and developed around an inboard pushrod suspension system with double wishbones all round and adjustable GT3-style camber and suspension geometry.
The standard brakes are six-pot calipers on 330mm-front and 310mm-rear discs, although buyers can option carbon ceramic versions.
The Radical RXC gets 17-inch centre-lock wheels – the largest ever fitted to a Radical sports car.
It’s well specified, too, with a multi-function fully adjustable steering wheel, electronic power steering, electrically adjustable and heated side mirrors, air conditioning, heated windscreen, LED daytime running lights and an adjustable pedal box. Also included is a pair of bespoke Corbeau FIA-compliant bucket seats with six-point harnesses.
The company has not yet released prices or delivery dates for the Radical RXC.
