11, 961 KIA Sportage Vehicles Will Be Recalled by KIA Motors in US

South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia Motors has issued a voluntary recall of 11,961 Kia Sportage vehicles of certain model year 2014 in the US due to issue with the tire pressure information.

The recall affected vehicles feature certification label with incorrect tire pressure information listing a specification 1 or 2 psi, which is below the correct specification.

Maintaining tire pressure below the recommended specification could result in premature tire wear, increasing the risk of a crash.

Due to this defect, these vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 110, 'Tire Selection and Rims for Passenger Cars'.

Dealers of the automaker will correct the label information, and also offer owners a sticker to put into the owners manual, free of charge.

From February 2014, Kia motors will notify the owners of the recall affected vehicles.
