Ajinomoto to Open New Facility for SAORI Liquid Seasoning Products

Ajinomoto is set to open a new manufacturing facility in Indonesia with an investment of JPY900m ($9.6m) for the manufacture of SAORI liquid seasoning products.

P.T. Ajinomoto Indonesia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese food firm Ajinomoto, is constructing the facility in the food products factory at the Karawang Industrial Estate, West Java.

The construction was started in February 2013 and the facility is likely to go onstream in June 2014.

The new facility is expected to double the current production capacity and cater to the ongoing rapid growth of the liquid seasoning market in Indonesia.

Currently, SAORI production is handled at contract manufacturers in Indonesia and the Mojokerto factory in East Java.

P.T. Ajinomoto Indonesia's new factory will allow the consolidation of outsourced and Mojokerto factory production at the Karawang Factory to build an efficient production system for stable supply.

The Karawang factory already manufactures Masako flavor seasoning. It is also positioned as a supply base for Western Indonesia as well as for Islamic countries in the Middle East, North Africa and elsewhere.

Liquid seasonings are a blend of various seasonings, spices and other ingredients in a base such as soy sauce. Applications for these seasonings range from use as a base for stir frying to use "as is" as a dipping or pouring sauce.

Ajinomoto is a global manufacturer of seasonings, processed foods, beverages, amino acids, pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
