Packaging company Grafobal has installed the group’s sixth KBA Rapida’s Rapida 106 press at its headquarters in Skalica, Slovakia.
Grafobal specializes in printing packaging for food, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, tobacco goods and transportation. It also produces labels and calendars, among other things.
The new Rapida 106 press features 13 printing, coating and dryer units as well as a 675mm plinth to enable the use of higher piles when printing thick substrates.
Featuring sidelay-free Sensoric Infeed System (SIS) infeed, the press is designed to produce up to 18,000 sheets per hour
The Rapida 106 is also equipped with feeder, with separate motors for the feeder head and feed table.
These feeders, along with special Venturi sheet guiding system, VariDry dryers and a dynamic sheet brake in the delivery, allows the press to offer optimum print quality even at high speeds.
The press can also be used to print a variety of products with conventional and UV inks and coatings.
KBA said that the press also allows for special coating types such as gold, silver and Iriodin.
In March 2015, Grafobal installed the its fifth KBA Rapida, a Rapida 106 press at its facility in Holubov, Czech Republic.
