Wind River Has Joined OSADL in a Moves Designed to Support Embedded Linux Applications

Wind River has joined the Open Source Automation Development Lab (OSADL) in a moves designed to support embedded Linux applications.
The OSADL's remit is to encourage development of open source projects in the areas of embedded systems and industrial design.
 
A main focus is Linux in real-time and safety-related systems and the special drivers for the Linux kernel required by the automation industry.
 
“OSADL continues to be a driver for the development of Linux and open source projects to meet the demands of the automation industry,” said Dr. Carsten Emde, general manager of the OSADL.
 
“As leader for real-time Linux and open source development in industrial automation, the OSADL is helping the industry embrace state-of-the-art innovations,” said Chris Buerger, senior director of open platform products at Wind River.
 
“Our open source expertise and offerings such as Wind River Linux allow us to bring the latest open source advancements including Yocto Project Compatibility, combined with the confidence that comes with leading commercial-grade embedded Linux products and global support, to the OSADL community,” said Buerger.
