Ford Motor Issues Recall of 317, 000 Vehicles in North America

Ford Motor has issued three safety recalls and one safety compliance recall for about 317,000 vehicles.

The biggest recall is on the Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis sedan models, manufactured between 2003 and 2005, over possible headlight failure.

Assembled at St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, from 3 October, 2001 through 2 August, 2005, approximately 313,000 vehicles have faulty solder joints on their lighting control modules.

These solder joints could crack, which may cut off power to headlights, thereby increasing the chances of accident.

Ford claimed that it is aware of 11 reports of accidents and one report of a minor injury due to this problem.

A total of 312,814 vehicles are affected in North America, including 296,004 in the US and federalized territories, 14,714 in Canada and 2,096 in Mexico.

The company has issued a safety compliance recall for about 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew vehicles to replace the front safety belt retractor and pretensioner assembly.

This recall has impacted 3,200 vehicles, the company stated.

Ford stated that the safety belt assembly may not have properly secured pretensioner cables, which may not sufficiently restrain an occupant in a crash.

However, the company is not aware of any accidents or injuries due to this problem.

The affected vehicles include some 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew vehicles developed at Dearborn assembly facility from 22 January, 2015 through 17 March, 2015.

The firm estimates a total of 3,218 vehicles might be affected in North America, including 2,590 in the US, 555 in Canada and 73 in Mexico.

Dealers will remove and replace the front driver and/or passenger safety belt retractor and pretensioner assembly at free of charge.

Ford has issued a safety recall of 2015 Ford Transit dual-rear-wheel vehicles in order to replace rear axle shafts.

The rear axle shafts could fracture, which could lead to a loss of motive power without warning while driving, or unintended vehicle movement when the vehicle is in park without the parking brake engaged, thereby raising the possibilities of increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Ford stated that it was not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

The affected vehicles were built at Kansas City assembly plant from 1 May, 2015 through 26 June, 2015.

A total of 1,265 vehicles might be affected in North America, including 1,170 in the US, and 95 in Canada.

Ford has also issued safety recall for certain 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 vehicles to replace rear air brake chamber.

This recall has impacted 177 vehicles.

The air brake jounce hoses could contact the vehicle's rear axle housing during vehicle operation, which could lead to a leak and inadvertent application of the parking brake or reduce braking performance, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford stated that it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

These affected vehicles were built at Ohio assembly plant from 18 June, 2015 through 15 November, 2015.

Of the 177 vehicles that might be affected in North America, 167 are from the US, and 10 in Canada.
