Russia’s veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog has banned the import of meat and dairy products from eight Belarussian companies.
The banned companies include Agrokombinat Skidelsky, Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Plant, Servolux Agro, Vitebsk Meat Packing Plant, Zhlobinsky Meat Processing Plant, Kalinkovichsky Meat Processing Plant, Rogachev milk canning plant and Rassvet Poultry Factory.
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight has imposed the ban after finding that the production of these companies does not meet Russian requirements, Russian news agency TASS reported.
A statement from the agency read: "Due to the seriousness of violations, the service has decided to impose temporary restrictions on supplies to Russia of production by Belarussian companies."
Recently, the agency also banned pork imports from Canada as supplies contain growth stimulant ractopamine prohibited in the Customs Union.
