German autoparts maker Continental has acquired full ownership of Zytek Automotive, an automotive engineering firm based in the UK.
Zytek Automotive, a former joint venture of Continental, offers its services in all areas of automotive technology and vehicle engineering.
The main business of the company includes developing conventional, electrical and hybrid drive systems for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
Previously, Continental held 50% stake in Zytek. Following this acquisition, Zytek will be integrated into Continental Engineering Services (CES) organization in the UK.
The British firm will provide its services in the chassis, the interior and the powertrain technologies to CES.
Continental Engineering Services managing director Bernd Neitzel said that this acquisition allows the company to meet the increasing need for engineering services.
"Whether it's from vehicle manufacturers or suppliers - we are seeing an increase in requests for special customer-specific designs and for components for small-scale production runs or niche vehicles, in areas such as electronic brakes, the chassis and the powertrain," Neitzel added.
