Global technology solutions provider JBT has announced that its JBT FoodTech business has signed a contract worth more than $5m with a North American food processor.
According to the company, its business will supply and install two rotary sterilizer lines and an Automatic Batch Retort System as part of the contract, to enable the processing of vegetable products in cans and pouches.
The Rotary Pressure Sterilizers from JBT FoodTech have the capacity to handle light-weight, stackable cans with easy-to-open ends.
JBT FoodTech Food Processing Systems Division vice president and general manager Steve Smith said, "This project is an excellent example of how JBT continues to increase the installed base of retort systems for the pouch market segment as new innovative packaging becomes more widely accepted."
The project is slated for completion by the third quarter of 2013.
