Three Technological Cooperation Agreements Has Been Signed by Geely with Volvo Cars

Chinese carmaker Zhejiang Geely Holding has signed three technological cooperation agreements with Volvo Cars.

The deals will allow Zhejiang to use some technologies Volvo plans to phase out in the next two years.

As per the deals,Zhejiang will use Volvo's mid-size vehicle platform or underpinning technology, interior air quality, and safety technology.

The agreements are expected to improve Geely's vehicle engineering abilities and help the two firms reduce costs.

The Chinese automaker did not reveal specific ways it plans to use Volvo's technology but in an interview with Reuters in April 2012,Geely CEO Li Shufu said one area of collaboration might be to use Volvo's in-car air-filtering-and-control technology.

In September this year,Zhejiang Geely had received an approval from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology(MIIT)to build a new$631m passenger automobile plant in Chengdu,China.
