Australian rail and logistics company Aurizon has announced that it has signed a new long-term coal haulage contract with Australian coal producer Xstrata, as Xstrata continues to increase production at its Rolleston mine in central Queensland.
The Aurizon contract supports Xstrata's mine expansion at Rolleston from the current 9.4 million mt per year to 14.6 million mt per year commencing December 2014, with provision for Aurizon to haul expanded output volumes up to 20 million mt per year in future years. Together with the new contract for Rolleston, the total contracted tonnages with Xstrata in Queensland will increase to over 31 million mt per year.
