Japanese carmaker Mazda Motor will begin leasing its Demio electric vehicle (EV) during October 2012 in Japan.
The carmaker is planning to lease nearly 100 units, mostly to local governments and corporate customers in Western Japan's Chugoku region.
According to Mazda, the EV is equipped with a 346 volt, 20kWh lithium ion battery and its electric motor generates 75kW power at 5200 to 12000 rpm and offers 150Nm torque at 2800 rpm.
Mazda said that the EV achieves a driving range of 200km on a single recharge and offers a top speed of 120kmph, while emitting no carbon dioxide or other pollutants.
The five seat Mazda EV is priced at CNY3,577,000 ($45,000).
