Arla Foods Is Voluntarily Recalling Mauri Brand Gorgonzola Cheese in Canada

Swedo-Danish cooperative Arla Foods is voluntarily recalling Mauri brand Gorgonzola cheese, a product of Italy, in Canada as it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

The product associated with the recall is 1.44kg Mauri brand Gorgonzola cheese bearing product code L. 3100012 with Best Before a Consummer De Preference Avant Le 7 April 2013.

CFIA and Arla Foods are warning the public not to consume the Mauri brand Gorgonzola cheese. CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

No illnesses have been reported associated with the recall.

Consumption of products containing Listeria monocytogenes may cause serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
