Knott's Fine Foods Is Voluntarily Recalling Its 3oz

Knott's Fine Foods is voluntarily recalling its 3oz. Chicken Salad Sandwiches with an expiration date of 29 January 2013 and earlier, as they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Knott's Fine Foods Recalls Chicken Salad Sandwiches in US

The recall was initiated after a routine testing by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

The product subject to recall, Chicken Salad Sandwiches, were distributed in West Tennessee, Western Kentucky and North Mississippi in 35 retail stores.

This product comes in a black wedge with clear plastic film and bears UPC code 0-11984-01132-6 and the expiration date is located on an orange sticker on the clear film of the package.

There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of the recalled product. No other Knott's Foods products were found to be affected. Production of the product has been postponed while the FDA and the company are investigating to identify the source of the problem.

Customers who have purchased the above Knott's Chicken Salad Sandwiches are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Consumption of products containing Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
