Dotmatics, a UK-based provider of scientific data management solutions, has released a version of its Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), which is specifically tailored to the food and beverages industry.
The enhanced Studies Notebook has been developed in partnership with industry experts, the company said.
The web-based system enables food scientists to store and retrieve essential data securely from PCs and laptops as well as mobile devices.
Dotmatics CEO Stephen Gallagher said that the Dotmatics Platform provides a framework to rapidly develop new ELN configurations whilst keeping a consistent data model.
"Through this project we delivered an ELN that makes it easy for users to add their recipes and associated data, search through them and create striking reports that can be shared instantly with colleagues and collaborators," Gallagher added.
The new Dotmatics Studies Notebook for Food and Beverage utilises the business intelligence and informatics engine of the Dotmatics Platform, offering the robustness and scalability of the system.
In addition, a new streamlined front end provides food scientists with the blank slate they require to annotate their recipes and formulations. Studies Notebook can store recipes, documents, spectral information, images and comments. All content is fully searchable and data can be safely retrieved on demand.
Electronic data capture and retrieval directly reduces the cost and time spent in bringing a product to market. The company said that the implementation of Studies Notebook will additionally guarantee the protection of intellectual property as well as enable organizations to leverage years of accumulated knowledge.
