The government of Qatar has proposed a massive poultry project, seeking investment from private sector.
The proposed project expects to develop huge hatcheries with an aim of producing 40,000 tonnes of chicken meat and 7,500 tonnes of eggs annually, The Peninsula reported.
The government is planning to invite proposals from private sector companies to launch this venture, with a technical committee already formed by the ministry of economy and commerce of Qatar.
According to the report, the projected area for the poultry would be some 5.7 square km.
The committee has launched an investor-contact programme, which will take written suggestions from people about the project.
It will also seek suggestions on different aspects of the project, including the production capacity of the poultry farm, the news agency said.
