Nestle USA has recalled around three million boxes of DiGiorno, Lean Cuisine, and Stouffer’s products saying they might contain glass pieces.
The company said that the source of glass could be spinach which was a common ingredient used in these products.
The discovery was made after the company received complaints from several consumers who claimed to have found several small pieces of glass in some of these products.
Recalled items can be identified by their production codes which are present on the side panel of the package.
Nestle USA however clarified that no other production codes, sizes, or varieties of the DiGiorno, Lean Cuisine or Stouffer's products are affected by the recall.
The affected products include DiGiorno Thin & Crispy Spinach and Garlic Pizza, DiGiorno Rising Crust Spinach and Mushroom Pizza, DiGiorno pizzeria Thin Crust Spinach and Mushroom Pizza, DiGiorno pizzeria Tuscan-style Chicken Pizza, Lean Cuisine Spinach and Mushroom Pizza, Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Ravioli.
Lean Cuisine Ricotta and Spinach Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Spinach, Artichoke & Chicken Panini, Lean Cuisine Mushroom Mezzaluna Ravioli, Stouffer's Vegetable Lasagna (10 oz., 37 oz. and 96 oz. sizes), Stouffer's Spinach Soufflé, and Stouffer's Chicken Lasagna also feature among the recalled items.
The company is working with the US Food & Drug Administration and the US Department of Agriculture to have a faster resolution of the issue. No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled items.
The latest recall follows just days after Perdue Foods recalled around 4,530 pounds of chicken nugget products over fear of plastic contamination. The Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets were recalled after the company received complaints from consumers stating that Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets contained small, solid, clear plastic pieces.
