Jaguar to Rebuild Its Classic XKSS Supercar for Exclusive Collectors

Jaguar announced that it will rebuild its classic and iconic supercar XKSS as an ultra-exclusive continuation model.

This supercar from the British luxury carmaker is considered to be one of the first supercars will be hand built to the exact specification as they first appeared in 1957.

About 25 XKSS were built in 1957, but some of the cars were lost in the infamous fire accident that took place in the Brown Lane factory.

Only 16 cars were completed and were exported to the US, before the accident took place. Nine cars were lost in the fire accident and after 59 years, Jaguar plans to rebuild those cars lost to fire.

These 9 cars will be sold only to a selected group of established collectors and customers, the company said.

Jaguar Land Rover Classic, director, Tim Hannig said: "The XKSS occupies a unique place in Jaguar's history and is a car coveted by collectors the world over for its exclusivity and unmistakable design."

"Jaguar Classic's highly skilled team of engineers and technicians will draw on decades of knowledge to ensure each of the nine cars is completely authentic and crafted to the highest quality.

"Our continuation XKSS reaffirms our commitment to nurture the passion and enthusiasm for Jaguar's illustrious past by offering exceptional cars, services, parts and experiences."

Company wants to use its expertise gained through constructing lightweight E-type project will be used in the construction of the nine-exclusive continuations.

These nine cars will be hand built at 'Experimental Shop' of Jaguar in Warwick. They will be built to the exact specifications of the original 16 cars built in 1957 and will be fully certified by Jaguar in every aspect.

According to the company, each of the new XKSS will come at a hefty price tag of £1 million. As these 9 cars will be hand-built, they will be ready for delivery only by early 2017.
