Schreiner MediPharm is set to unveil its product innovations at InnoPack as part of CPhI Worldwide in Barcelona, Spain.
At the event will be held from October 4 to 6, the company will showcase latest further development of Flexi-Cap, a security solution that irreversibly indicates the initial opening of primary containers and thus
It avoids illegal filling and reuse of empty containers with counterfeit substances.
The new cap features a tear strip that will run through the label as a new integrated element. It offers enhanced tampering protection, as the label is destroyed upon initial opening.
To undermine the illegal practices, Schreiner has developed Flexi-Cap security concept that combines film cap with a label for clear and irreversible first-opening indication.
Flexi-Cap Plus, which is suitable for various glass container types, shapes and sizes, can be easily integrated into a pharmaceutical manufacturer’s existing brand design.
Suitable for small containers, the lid of the film cap provides additional space that can be used for imprinting barcodes or integrating NFC chips for interactive applications.
According to the company, illegal reuse of empty medicine containers with original labels is a major problem for pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Schreiner MediPharm president Ann Merchant said: “The specialty of the new Flexi-Cap Plus variant is that the tear strip does not run through the film cap, but rather is integrated directly in the label.
“When the tear strip is opened, it automatically destroys the label and makes it impossible to illegally reuse the container with the original label.”
