British baking firm Warburtons has relaunched gluten-free and wheat-free bakery products under Newburn Bakehouse brand.
The brand's portfolio also includes white, brown and fruit loaves, as well as white and brown sub rolls, and two varieties of muffins - lemon and poppyseed, and blueberry and cranberry.
Warburtons noted that it will produce the currently eight product free-from range from a specialist bakery facility in Newburn, Newcastle.
The company plans to expand its gluten-free range from seven to about a dozen products by the end of this year, starting with a new baguette and seeded loaf. It is working on launching smaller pack sizes to cater to the coffee shops and other foodservice outlets.
Initially, Warburtons introduced free-from range in 2010 after establishing a bakery in Newburn. The free-from range of products have been an important source of growth along with snacks, wraps and thins as sales of sliced bread declined sharply.
