RMMV Won a Eur1.1bn Contract From ADF to Deliver a Fleet of Advanced Logistical Vehicles

Germany based vehicle manufacturer Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) has won a EUR1.1bn contract from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to deliver a fleet of advanced logistical vehicles

The deal is part of ADF's Land 121fleet modernization program, under which the manufacturer will supply about 2500 protected as well as non-protected trucks with different weight classes and configurations.

Under the modernization program's Phase 3B, the vehicles are expected to be delivered starting from 2016, while the contract is scheduled for completion in 2020.

The vehicles supplied under the deal will include medium and heavyweight recovery vehicles, heavy-duty logistical vehicles, integrated load handling systems as well as medium-sized cargo bed variants with cranes, fuel and water modules and tipper bodies.

RMMV will manufacture the vehicles at its plant in Vienna, Austria, while production of modules and some bodies as well as C4I integration will be carried out at the manufacturer's Australia site and its local partner companies.

The order is expected to strengthen RMMV's position in the global market of military wheeled vehicles.

The new vehicles will replace the ADF's current fleet, allowing it to have a uniform fleet that is expected to offer benefits in spare parts, maintenance and training.
