Mobileye announced, during a joint symposium with the Chinese Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport, key findings from a 2015 test of their advanced collision avoidance technology conducted by the Chinese Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport.
During the tests, approximately 300 of Mobileye's aftermarket collision avoidance systems were installed on buses and trucks and driven 15 million kilometers. On average, the vehicles equipped with Mobileye systems showed:
27% decrease in forward collision warnings per 100 kilometers
26% decrease in unintended lane departures per 100 kilometers
39% decrease in the number of Headway Warnings per 100 kilometers
21-35% decrease in the average "Risk Ratio"
Mobileye Aftermarket Division vice president and general manager Elad Serfaty said: "We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with China's Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport to test our collision avoidance technology on commercial vehicles.
"Governing and regulatory agencies are recognizing the value of collision avoidance technology and are calling for it to become a standard feature in all vehicles. The test results we shared verify the potentially life-saving benefits of Mobileye's technology."
Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport Yang Dongbo said: "Safety continues to be our key focus. Radically reducing traffic accidents requires joint efforts from the government, industry and enterprises.
"We are pleased Mobileye, the global leader of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, is joining us to provide testing and recording results to significantly support the need for advanced safety technology in vehicles, especially commercial vehicles, to ensure safe driving."
Hengtong Logistics driver Li Huaibo said: "Mobileye's collision avoidance system acts like a driver's 'third eye', constantly monitoring the road.
"It identifies potentially dangerous situations, and provides audio and visual alerts to help drivers like me prevent or mitigate a potential collision. We are in the field of transporting hazardous chemicals; maintaining road safety at all times is vital."
