Test systems and position sensors suppliers MTS Systems Corporation and CATARC (China's Automotive Technology & Research Center) have consolidated their tie-up with the latter’s opening of a new test facility in China.
Backed by the technological expertise of MTS and CATARC's insight into Chinese automotive industry, the CATARC-MTS Vehicle Test Technology & Innovation Platform adds to test capabilities at the new unit.
CATARC was established by the Chinese government in 1985 to promote the Chinese automotive industry, which incorporates technical regulations, product certifications, and automotive standards in the Chinese market.
CATARC president Zhao Hang said: "CATARC continues to make major investments in cutting-edge technology in order to meet our commitment to drive the Chinese automotive sector forward.
"Over a period of three decades, MTS has played a vital role in supporting our endeavors by supplying us with superior test solutions and we are excited at the prospect of further cooperation to deal with the wealth of opportunities ahead."
The new test unit is expected to help the automotive manufacturers launch next-generation vehicles with an improved reliability, safety and fuel efficiency.
Some of the technologies supplied by MTS include rolling resistance test technologies, multi-axial simulation tables, multi-axial spindle-coupled road simulators and mHIL (mechanical hardware-in-the-loop) hybrid simulation systems.
The aerodynamics, durability and performance could also be gauged with the help of MTS ground vehicle testing systems.
MTS CEO and president said Dr. Jeffrey Graves said: "The Chinese automotive industry is quickly adopting and developing technology at world-class levels.
"Closer alignment between MTS and CATARC will be of great benefit to both parties, combining the advanced technology of MTS in ground vehicle test with CATARC's eminent position at the forefront of automotive development in China. Moreover, it underlines MTS' ongoing commitment to the Chinese market and the unique, knowledge-based value proposition the company offers."
