On May 23, Jiangsu Baosteel precision steel wire 1st phase project is completed and commissioned in Haibao industrial park in Haimen city Jiangsu Nantong. This means that Baosteel officially enters the field of high-grade wire products and opens up the industrial chain from steelmaking to rod rolling and product pulling. Jiangsu Baosteel Precision Wire Co., Ltd. is Baosteel Metal's wholly owned subsidiary and is mainly engaged in wire product extended processing business such as automotive tire cords and photovoltaic industry cutting wire. The project covers an area of 520 mou and starts construction in two phases by the end of 2011 in Haimen. The 1st phase project investment is 730 million yuan and will form 50,000 tons of precision wire production capacity, including 45000 tons of steel cord and 5000 tons of cutting wire. At present, it has initially formed 1500 tons of automobile tire steel cord monthly production capacity and 400 tons of cutting wire product production capacity. The products have passed certification test by many users and achieve mass supply. At the same time, the second period of 1st phase project equipment installation is in full swing and it is expected to achieve production in September this year. In addition, Baosteel Metal also carries out 2nd phase project simultaneous planning in the business plan. The two projects' total scale will reach an annual capacity of 100,000 tons of precision wire.
