The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster has launched in the US with a high-speed demonstration of five of the new open-top supercars blasting down the south runway of Miami’s international airport.
With special permission from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Miami-Dade County, the 522kW Lamborghini Aventador Roadsters reached speeds of 338km/h, exceeding the runway’s passenger jet take-off speed of between 240-290km/h.
Along with the runway stunt, the launch event also included a 50-vehicle parade down Collins Drive in South Beach, where on-lookers lined the street for a glimpse of the cars.
Armed with a 6.5-litre V12 engine, the Aventador Roadster can go from 0-100km/h in less than three seconds before hitting a top speed of 350km/h.
The Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster is the newest variant of Lamborghini’s flagship model, and features a removable carbonfibre roof weighing 11.8 kilograms.
