GE Healthcare Nurse Call Business Is Bought by Ascom

Ascom has purchased GE Healthcare's Nurse Call business in Bradenton, Florida, US, to expand its Wireless Solutions network.

As part of the acquisition, Ascom will integrate GE Healthcare's Nurse Call business as a separate business unit in Bradenton.

GE Healthcare's Nurse Call systems including Telligence, a network based VoIP nurse call system, and Telergy are used by hospitals throughout North America.

Telligence has shown to improve clinical workflow within the acute care market.

Patrick Van Ryzin, who led the GE Healthcare's Nurse Call business for the past three years, will continue to lead the business as a separate business unit for Ascom.

Previously, GE and Ascom have jointly developed the Mobile Monitoring Gateway to send alarms and alerts from GE Healthcare's patient monitors to mobile devices.

Ascom CEO Fritz Mumenthaler said the acquisition of GE Healthcare's Nurse Call business will help the company to move closer to its mission of becoming the international market developer in mission-critical communication in healthcare.

"This acquisition, and our recent acquisition of Miratel in Finland, combined with our own teleCARE Nurse Call allows Ascom to provide superior nurse call solutions all around the world," Mumenthaler added.
