Publix Super Markets Is Voluntarily Recalling Its Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad

US-based Publix Super Markets is voluntarily recalling its Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad as it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall was initiated after Publix received notification of the potential contamination from the supplier, Allison's Gourmet Kitchens.

The affected product, Publix Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad, bears UPC code 41415-39662 and was sold in pre-packaged 12oz. containers. This recall involves all product sold with use by dates of 4/5/2013, 4/14/2013 and 4/17/2013. The product was distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Publix media and community relations director Maria Brous said that there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the product being recalled.

"We have issued a voluntary recall because of our commitment to food safety," Brous added.

Consumers who have purchased the product are advised to return the product to their local store for a full refund.

Publix is privately owned and operated by its 157,500 employees. Currently, Publix owns 1,070 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
