Health Canada has granted approval to OrthoAccel Technologies to distribute AcceleDent into the Canadian market.
The FDA-approved AcceleDent is a clinical approach that applies gentle micropulses, SoftPulse Technology, to safely accelerate orthodontic tooth movement.
OrthoAccel Technologies CEO Mike Lowe said the approval demonstrates that the company can now bring the benefits of AcceleDent to Canadian orthodontists and their patients.
"We're also very gratified that demand for the product was demonstrated with the nearly immediate placement of orders from Canada," Lowe added.
As part of the approval, the company is delivering the first order to a Canadian orthodontic practice.
AcceleDent is also currently marketed in the UK , across the European Union, Australia and South Korea .
