The multicolor LED lighting system of the Lotus Parnasala,a 91'tall magnificent marble building of Santhigiri Ashram,Kerala,India,is the largest of its kind in the world.The monument,in the shape of a lotus in full bloom,consists of 21 petals-12 unfurling in the top layer and 9 towards the base.Each petal on the top extends to 41 feet in height while the bottom petals are 31 feet long.
This landmark lighting concept was developed by renowned Indian Cinematographer Mr.S.Kumar.The layout design was completed by 3S Lighting,a very difficult challenge due to constraints on the pole positioning where luminaires were mounted because of adjacent buildings and trees on the site.The marble surface posed another major issue of reflections of the LED.
GVA Lighting's STR9-RGB luminaire was used to illuminate both the interior and exterior surfaces of the lotus structure.STR9 Luminaires are mounted in various location around and within the lotus,on light poles and on the structure's surface itself.With very careful layout design,installation and system programming,GVA Lighting and 3S Lighting achieved a truly remarkable lighting installation on a truly remarkable structure.
