Carlsberg Group's subsidiary, Baltika Breweries has started shipping beer to Oman, becoming the first Russian exporter in the country.
The first batch amounted to 10,000 liters of beer.
It was decided to start developing the new market with the classical lager Baltika 3 packaged in bottles and cans.
Baltika 3 will be first distributed in Muscat – the capital of Oman, which is considered the hottest city in the world. The beer will be available in shops of the largest alcohol distributor in the country.
It is worthwhile noting that in the Near East Baltika Breweries export is developing successfully: the 18% growth for 9 month compared with the same period of the previous year.
Today the company production – the sorts of the Baltika brand line – is available on the stores shelves in United Arab Emirates – the largest market, which continues its dynamic development, Iraq, Pakistan, Lebanon, Bahrain and Israel.
When entering the Oman market it was necessary to consider its specificity. This is the richest country in the Muslim world, which is comparable with the leading world powers in living standarts.
At the same time, there are strict limitations: alcoholic beverages sold at a special permit issued by the police. Such permission is a certain limit on the products sale. Import tax is around 100%.
There is no beer production in the country, just import, that is increasing by 3-4% every year.
Entering the Oman market - is not the only achievement of Baltika Breweries in 2016 in the field of the opening new countries markets.
In 2016, Baltika Breweries also started export to Argentina, becoming the first Russian importer in the country, Pakistan and Burkina Faso.
Baltika Breweries Export Sales Manager Natalia Samuylova said: "Baltika Breweries export development strategy suggests the sales growth not only due to better work with the assortment in the current countries, but also by opening up new markets.
"Currently, our products can be found in 77 countries around the world, and this list is constantly growing.
"The Near East region is extremely difficult to operate due to the large differences in consumer preferences, characteristics, high competition. But it is very promising, which is why we pay special attention to it."
