Essar Steel Algoma, an integrated primary steel producer in Canada posted loss of US$88.40 million for the third quarter of this year, caused by high input costs and dropped selling prices.
In the third quarter, the firm's selling prices fell by 7.3% and its sales volumes decreased by 15%, both compared to that in a quarter ago. However, its input costs jumped by 8.5% quarter on quarter.
Meanwhile, the company's sales volumes in the third quarter totaled 540,811 tons and it realized sales incomes of US$410.9 million.
