Jeff Bi Celebrated The Plant's Opening Together with Shi Mindge

Chinese Pack Firm Opens First Plant in Europe

Jeff Bi, chief executive of Greatview Aseptic Packaging Manufacturing, celebrated the plant’s opening together with Shi Mindge, ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Germany, and Reiner Haseloff, minister-president of the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt.

Greatview, the second largest manufacturer of sterile packaging materials in the world, began construction of its production facility in June 2011, investing some €50m in the process. While it is now fully operational, some 120 employees have been active producing aseptic packaging at the Halle location since 2012.

“It pleases me that we are able to welcome such a financially potent investor to Saxony-Anhalt. This decision confirms not only the business relocation strategy of the state government but the attractiveness of our location– at the centre of Germany and at the very heart of Europe – to businesses as well. Greatview hit the bull’s eye when it decided to set up operations at this location.

“The industrial estate Star Park disposes of outstanding transport connections, not only because it is linked directly to road and rail, but because of its proximity to Leipzig/Halle Airport as well. The rapidly growing markets of Eastern Europe are at our doorstep,” Reiner Haseloff said.

Greatview’s chairman and executive director Hong Gang added: “At the end of the day, what convinced us were the high degree of professionalism and the depth of commitment shown by the public authorities of both Saxony-Anhalt and Halle in their efforts to win this project.

“They made clear from the beginning that together we could create a win-win situation to the benefit of all parties involved.

“Europe is the world’s largest regional market when it comes to sterile packages. Halle (Saale) represents a bold expansion of our activities in the region. This commitment will help us to increase our market share, to widen our customer structure and to take full advantage of the rapid growth in the international market for sterile packaging. The Europe-based plant also provides additional export capacity to serve markets in the Middle East as well as in North and South America.”
